Medicine depends on the written word. Writing has allowed humanity to amass centuries of advancement and spread knowledge far and wide. Without clearly communicating scientific and medical advances, we would not have the effective treatments we have today.
Medicines started directly from what nature provided: from the willow bark that would eventually lead to aspirin and plant-derived paralyzing alkaloids that would eventually be used to create surgical drugs, mankind has taken nature’s inspiration and created synthetic, potent medicines to treat disease more effectively. Even modern biologics use a natural process—immunity—to create targeted medicines, transforming cancer care and myriad other diseases.
Like medicine, the tools of the written word evolved from nature-made tools. The quill, fashioned from nature's feathers, became the tool for capturing our thoughts and stories. Writing tools evolved to give us the printing press, the pen, and the digital display you’re using to read this.

Chris is an accomplished scientist and communicator with over 12 years of academic research experience, 3 years of in-house agency experience, and over 3 years of operating a business. He founded Quill Science to channel his passion and goal to improve health by amplifying beneficial scientific and medical advances through engaging science stories.
